Right now game mode is also determined via image recognition in Hearthstone Deck Tracker (I assume, since I couldn't find it in the logs in any form) but not in HSTracker, so uploads to HSReplay from HSTracker are all the default of Ranked. Let's imagine they added your Rank, and your opponent's rank somewhere in the logs, that would mean Rank detection wouldn't break if someone updates a sprite (which IIRC happened and meant track-o-bot data, and thus viscious syndicate were unable to give meaningful per rank reports for a while). I understand that long term it would be great to have an API to do some of these things, but I'm going to suggest a much simpler thing which could enable the community to continue to build tools without Blizzard having to do as much work.Īll they need to do is add some things to the log file. And to keep track of a collection outside of the game (via a spreadsheet or other online pages) requires tools like Innkeeper or manual entry. So tools like HSTracker (and I assume Hearthstone Deck Tracker on Windows), need to do things like using image recognition to determine your rank, or the game mode (neither of which appear in the logs). The log files contain a lot of information, but not quite enough.
I've also studied the logs that many of these use to gather their data. As a working programmer and Hearthstone player, I've spent time creating my own tools for keeping track of my collection, as well as studying and using many tools out there ( HSTracker, Track-O-Bot, HSReplay, and Viscious Syndicate) in an attempt to improve my game.
